What is the Men's Derby Coalition?
The Men's Derby Coalition was been organized the most senior men's roller derby leagues: Pioneer Valley Roller Derby's Dirty Dozen, New York Shock Exchange and Baltimore's Harm City Homicide. Frustrated by not having a large enough pool of opponents - we embarked on the task of helping other men organize and play roller derby.
In the beginning, we faced many challenges in getting our leagues started. Challenges like:
- Recruiting
- Finding resources for: coaching, drills, equipment, refs, etc
- Finding venues to play and bout at
- Responding to objections from established women's leagues
- Working with local women's leagues to get started
- Finding other teams to play
- Deciding with other leagues on common standards
Our primary goal is to help other aspiring players and league coordinators find the information and resources they need.

MDC is not a governing body.. (yet)
The MDC is not currently a governing body that decides on standards and rules for men's roller derby. We believe that the men's roller derby is still too young to need a governing body. Currently our position is to help stimulate the conversations and figure out ways to meet people's needs and goals.
First things first - we want to help guys network, form teams and get practice. In the future, we plan to take a more active role in helping to define standards and organizing tournaments and such.
